Järventausta’s orchestral works Ripped Tapestry (2019) and Naava (2022) have been released on Alba Records on an album containing music by Ville Matvejeff and Joel Järventausta. The recordings are made by Jyväskylä Sinfonia, conducted by Ville Matvejeff. Read more here.
2025 – Songs, Games & Dances receives Composer-of-the-Year Award
Songs, Games & Dances, commissioned by Ensemble Storstrøm for violinist Niklas Walentin, receives Comoposer-of-the-Year Award for Small-Scale Works in the Finnish Publisher’s Association Awards. Read more here.
2025 – Chamber opera nominated for Thalia-Award
Järventausta’s first opera Ihminen parhaan kykynsä mukaan is nominated for the Thalia-Award by Theater Info Finland. The award is given to: ‘a performance that stimulates social debate, attracts new audiences, enjoys international success, or is otherwise particularly noteworthy, thereby generating discussion about the significance of theater arts.’ Read more here.

Järventausta’s first opera Ihminen parhaan kykynsä mukaan is nominated for Composer-of-the Year Award for Large-Scale Works by the Finnish Music Publishers Association.
2024 – Composer-in-Residence in Denmark
Järventausta will be Composer-in-Residence at the I Djurs og Mols-festival in Denmark from 25th to the 31st of July.
As part of the residency there will be a performances of On Blue (2019) by the string quartet of the Royal Danish Orchestra, world premiere of En Sourdine (2020) by soprano Olivia Moss and violist Alexander Øllgaard. The residency culminates in the world premiere of a new concertino, Songs, Games & Dances, commissioned by Ensemble Storstrøm for violinist Niklas Walentin in Dråby Church. The concert will be broadcast by the Danish National Radio. Previous Composers-in-Residence have been the late Kaija Saariaho and Daniel Bjarnason.
2023 – Bourrée released on NMC Recordings
Commissioned by City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to celebrate their Centenary, a live recording of Järventausta’s Bourrée for brass and percussion ensemble has been released on NMC Recordings today, along with 19 other composers’ music. The recording is conducted by Clark Rundell. Read more here.
